On Friday (August 16), Netflix revealed that Liam Payne, Nicole Scherzinger, Kelly Rowland, and AJ McLean are set to join their new series, Building the Band. Scherzinger will serve as both a mentor and judge on the reality music competition, while Payne and Rowland will both be judges. McLean will be the series’ host, which will detail the progress of individual singers as they strive to form a band without ever actually meeting the other members of the group. Filming on the series will begin this summer, but a premiere date has not yet been announced.

“Building the Band is a brave and bold undertaking for all involved as we hand over power to the singers themselves to form their own band based on chemistry first,” said Cat Lawson, Remarkable Entertainment’s Executive Producer. “With looks out of the equation, can they create a deeper connection with their bandmates? With limited bands, there are difficult decisions and heart stopping moments along the way, but ultimately the outcome is truly amazing, with bands forming, who in my opinion are worthy of the very biggest stage!” (People)
